2. Phase Structuring

Overview

This module shows how to use teamwork to structure the project. You work as a team to build a work breakdown structure and plan phases, key deliverables or results, and delegated activities. It also presents the key roles and steps to improve quality in the project.

bullet Describe the use of Rolling Wave Planning, identify when it may not be appropriate, and the techniques to use then.
bullet Brainstorm and organize the phase work using WBS Templates.
bullet Contrast the individual and team approaches to structuring project work.
bullet Assign responsibilities for key roles; explain a Project Manager’s essential role.
bullet Choose from a range of delegation methods that improve team performance.
bullet Structure the project team appropriately for the project’s size.
bullet Assess the prerequisites of quality, then plan and perform reviews that validate it.
bullet Summarize phase structuring results into a work plan.

Audience
The intended audience of all the Core Modules includes Project Managers, leaders, and key team members (including customers or clients) of medium-to-large projects. Managers of project teams will also receive benefit, as well as Project Management Office staff who have not been exposed to the gamut of project management topics they need to support.
